The Thunder Rolls

This week I picked "The Thunder Rolls" by Garth Brooks because the thunder of the winter sport season has begun to rumble as yet another sport began last week and two more teams are set to lace up this week.

Last week I covered a doubleheader of DCB basketball games before heading home for a swell Thanksgiving break. I returned Saturday to cover the 19U and BHS hockey games. Interesting sidebar here, I was hit by a deflected puck on Saturday at the BHS game. It snapped the frame on my glasses and gave me a bit of a bruise above my eye, but it really didn't hurt and I kept on clicking.

I want a pretty spectacular 13-3 on my NFL picks last week. I am now 122-63 (65.9 percent) on the year.Week 14 picks are:
Eagles over Seahawks
Jets over Redskins
Bears over Chiefs
Bills over Titans
Raiders over Dolphins
Steelers over Bengals
Falcons over Texans
Broncos over Vikings
Buccaneers over Panthers
Patriots over Colts
Ravens over Browns
Packers over Giants
Cowboys over Cardinals
49ers over Rams
Saints over Lions
Jaguars over Chargers

I have many pictures to share this week:

Jacks guard Cameron Malzer dribbles away from a defender last Tuesday.

Malzer dishes a pass to a teammate on the fast break.

DCB freshman Levi Tomlinson shoots a three.

Tomlinson drives the lane.

Jayden McMillin looks to pass.

Sophomore Jeremy Chambers shoots a three.

Chambers attempts an athletic layup.

Ladyjacks freshman Jackie Miller goes strong to the hoop last Tuesday against Trinity Bible College.

Miller passes up court.

Miller looks to finish with the left hand.

Freshman Kayla Nelsen hits a three.

Josie Degagne hustles to play defense.

Kalli Engh attempts a layup on a fast break.

Miller for three.

Freshman Jordyn Sondrol attempts a jumper.

Bottineau 19U goaltender Jacie Ceglowski covers up the put during a scramble last Saturday against Richland.

Ashley Blue shoots in the first period for her first of three goals.

Bottineau's Bailey Neubauer dumps a puck into the offensive zone.

Tiffany Schuster tries to go after a loose puck.

I think this is Sonja Gilje.

Gilje shoots.

Erin Severson tries to advance the puck toward the net.

Blue makes a move on a Rangers defender.

Senior Logan Millican muscles a goal past the netminder with a defender draped on him.

Kyle Volk follows through after a shot in last Saturday's 9-0 win over Devils Lake.

Taylor Neubauer puts a Firebird in a head lock as he covers up the puck.

Volk tries to make a move on the Devils Lake goaltender.

Jimmy Gilje attempts to fake out the goalie.

Cody Longie rips a hard shot from the top last Saturday.

Senior's Jackson Bernstein (left), Nick Monson (middle) and Millican (right) celebrate after Millican scored in the second period.

Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)

This week I chose the Sly and the Family Stone classic "Thank You" as a tribute to the upcoming holiday of Thanksgiving.

I'll jump right into NFL picks as I don't want to bore anyone with the past week I had.
The past week 11 of the NFL season I went an atrocious 7-7, which brings me year total to 109-60 or 64.5 percent.

Here's to hoping week 12 is a better one:

Packers over Lions
Cowboys over Dolphins
Ravens over Niners
Jets over Bills
Bengals over Browns
Falcons over Vikings
Texans over Jaguars
Rams over Cardinals
Buccaneers over Titans
Panthers over Colts
Redskins over Seahawks
Raiders over Bears
Eagles over Patriots
Broncos over Chargers
Steelers over Chiefs
Saints over Giants

I have a few DCB hockey pics form the past weekend's wins over Minnesota-Crookston:

DCB's Chad Miller looks to shoot last Friday against University of Minnesota-Crookston.

DCB freshman and BHS graduate Seth Serhienko looks toward the flag during the National Anthem on Friday.

Jacks sophomore net minder Troy Chandler stops a Golden Eagles shot.

Chandler gets wiped out by Luke Cieklinski as he stumbled while chasing a puck.

Jacks forward Patrick Martin makes a move past a Crookston defender.

Cieklinski looks up ice for a teammate.

Cieklinski tries to skate the puck past two defenders.

Serhienko corrals a puck in the offensive zone.

Miller prepares to shoot as he tries to block away a Golden Eagle.

Jacob Plutowski skates past a defender on Saturday.

Miller gets his shot deflected into the air.

Serhienko tries to stuff it past the Crookston goaltender on Saturday.

DCB's Doug Evans skates between two Golden Eagle defenders.

In Limbo

This week I chose the Radiohead song "In Limbo" because I am currently in the strange time in prep sports where there isn't any to cover. I am in Limbo between the fall and winter sports seasons.

Last week I finished up fall sports by watching the Bottineau Stars fall in the Region 6 Championship game for the second straight year, and to the same team--Kenmare.

This week I have a couple DCB hockey games to go to and maybe a few news things to attend to, otherwise a pretty quiet week.

Be sure to check out the Bottineau Courant's new website. The link is located in the left sidebar of this page, or go here: www.ndna.com/bottineaucourant.

I went a decent 10-5 in my NFL picks this week thanks to the late games. Last week they burned me, this week they were my saving grace. Anyway, I am now 102-53 or 65.8 percent on the season, which i don't think is too bad.

For the week 11 picks:

Jets over Broncos
Panthers over Lions
Packers over Buccaneers
Cowboys over Redskins
Bengals over Ravens
Browns over Jaguars
Bills over Dolphins
Raiders over Vikings
Rams over Seahawks
49ers over Cardinals
Titans over Falcons
Bears over Chargers
Giants over Eagles
Patriots over Chiefs

I have a few leftovers from the region volleyball tourney:

Bottineau senior Whitney page gets a little emotional as she receives the Region 6 Senior Athlete of the Year award last Thursday in Minot.

Stars senior Mikayla Hahn attempts to hit it over the net in last Thursday's championship loss to the Kenmare Honkers.

Page tries to block Kenmare senior Ashley Barnhardt.

Bottineau senior Heidi Artz receives a Honkers serve last Thursday in Minot.

The Stars bench erupts after a big block by Page.

Bottineau's bench again cheers after an ace.

The All-Region 6 team, including three players from Bottineau, Page (3), Artz (15) and Ashleigh Aufforth (1).
